General Summary:

This position is responsible to match and or blend all paint related colors in different facades of various colors / vendors. The attention to detail is crucial in regards of matching and being consistent with formulations of the ingredients being produced. This is an art.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Weigh, blend, QC, and deliver in a productive, efficient, and safe manner paint-ready colors to meet the demands of the customer's production schedule or the list.
Follow appropriate quality control and inspection process for paints to ensure quality to presses.
Make shade and gloss adjustments
Prepare spray out and draw down tests
Keep or develop paint samples with correct labels and keep them current.
Make sure that the work station, equipment and floors are cleaned and properly maintained up to the standards the supervisor / lead has put into place.
Perform other related responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor / lead.
Review suitability of returns paint for recycle.
Perform paint estimating for jobs going for the field.
Assist with physical inventory.
Assist in the ordering process by reviewing the long term schedule to predict ink usage and identify any special orders (solvent inks, blends, specialty colors).
Make sure that the work station, equipment and floors are cleaned and properly maintained up to the standards the supervisor has put into place.
Notify safety coordinator with any spills
Control and monitor paint usage and over / under mixing per job.
Mix paint only according to the list per day and or shift, if applicable.

Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have strong communications skills and a working knowledge of MS Excel.
Strong emphasis on the ability to identify set and review quality standards for customers or sales associates.
Knowledgeable with Mathews, Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, PMS, ADA and other paint substances.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma / GED
2+ yrs. In equivalent work environment

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Perform work with speed and accuracy.
Extensive bending, twist, push, and pull, stoop and kneel.
Lift and/or carry minimum of 70 pounds.
May be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes or air borne particles.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time.
