Metal Shop Machine Operator

Job Description
Primary Duty
The primary duty of this position is operation of machines to produce products for assembly line.


Responsibility
Sets up and runs various metal shop machines such as Thermoformer, Mill Lathe, saws, punch presses and the various hand tools used in production.
Inputs job data into the database (clocking on and off jobs when necessary, including correct counts)
Reads and interprets print reading and symbols, along with geometric tolerances to produce finished product.
Keep work area, including machine surfaces clean always
Other duties as assigned by management


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are 7am-330pm.
expected to coincide with the Company s normal business hours, Monday-Friday.


Knowledge, skills and abilities
To be able to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Preferred three years of related experience.
Working knowledge of the metalworking processes
High school diploma or GED required. Secondary education or trade school preferred.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work well with others
Ability to set up and run the various machines in the department such as Thermoformer, Mill, Lathe, Saws, Punch presses, and the various hand tools used in the production of product.
Thorough understanding of flat pattern layout, and formed part drawings.
Work in an efficient and timely manner
Must have full understanding of print reading and symbols, along with geometric tolerances and how they relate to the finished part.
