Job Description

Position: Production Assembler

Department: Production

Reports To: Production Manager

Classification: Hourly, non-exempt


The Production Assembler performs any combination of the following tasks to assemble electronics components, subassemblies, products, or systems.

Essential Functions
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.

  • Positions and aligns parts as specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.

  • Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits or perform similar operations to join or secure parts in place using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment.

  • Mounts assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets on chassis panel.

  • Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points, using soldering or related bonding procedures and equipment.

  • Installs finished assembles of subassemblies in cases and cabinets.

  • Assembles and attaches hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs, and switches to assemblies.

  • Performs intermediate assembly tasks, such as curing, stamping, populating and color coding parts and assemblies.

  • Tends machines that auto inserts parts and inspects using magnifying devices, measuring instruments to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.

  • May perform assembly operations under microscope or other magnifying device.

  • Assemblers may also be assigned to other tasks as instructed under the discretion of their supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are expected to coincide with the Company s normal business hours, Monday-Friday 7am 3: 30pm

Required Education and Experience
to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Previous electronics assembly or manufacturing assembly preferred

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required

  • Must be able to read and closely follow written and verbal instructions

  • Must be able to use hand tools including soldering equipment

Manufacturing setting: Requires ability to stand or sit depending on work. Requires the ability to physically manipulate small items. Requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
